Assistant Product Manager

DriSteem Corporation, a division of Research Products Corporation designs and manufactures humidification systems to meet the unique requirements of health care, industrial, process-critical, commercial and residential applications worldwide.  DriSteem’s reputation as the humidification industry leader is the result of over 50 years of product excellence, innovation, and responsive customer service.  We are currently seeking an Assistant Product Manager to join our team in Eden Prairie, MN.  This position will reside with the Marketing team and report to the Director of Marketing.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Product Manager is responsible for the execution of daily tasks surrounding product portfolio management, product roadmaps, product support and product marketing. The Assistant Product Manager works on a wide variety of product-related assignments including; research, product support, and development projects. This hands-on role works under the direction of Senior Product Managers to ensure that product portfolios are performing to business expectations and projects are completed on time/as specified.

The Assistant Product Manager’s role includes maintaining literature and presentation materials for assigned product lines.  Assistant Product managers will possess strong business acumen, technical skills, and desire to learn products and markets.

Key Responsibilities:
Support execution of long-term strategy behind assigned products, acting as an internal and external advocate for product adoption, promotion, and growth.  

Assist in development of product related presentations, training, literature, and other sales resources.  Conduct market research, customer interviews, and manage various projects as assigned.

Essential Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:
Research

  • Conduct research on market conditions, share, competitors, customer trends, concept testing, and related topics using on-line resources, industry reports, surveys and personal interviews to generate business insights that inform strategy and ideas.
  • Develop knowledge of the market, the competition and how DriSteem products are positioned.  Update competitor file continuously.
  • Assist with development of market requirements and identification of growth opportunities.

Product Management

  • Understand and execute on product vision and strategy ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, and as specified.
  • Work with Senior Product Managers on documentation and communication of product roadmaps.
  • Monitor product performance with regard to sales, margin, project activity, and pricing pressure.
  • Assist with definition, justification and project management of value engineering and product development efforts for assigned product lines.
  • Develop field communications for product modifications, application issues, or product problems by working closely with Senior Product Managers, technical support, sales and engineering.
  • Monitor competition for new products, updates, promotions, advertisements, events, price changes, and share with other DriSteem personnel as needed.

Product Development

  • Assist with investigation, definition, justification and documentation of product requirements and business cases.
  • Support execution of product development plans by assisting with research, coordination of beta sites, training, and related activities.

Product Marketing

  • Act as an internal and external evangelist for assigned products; promoting product key benefits, gathering feedback and driving promotions, as well as sales and project activity.
  • Provide the sales team with tools and technical expertise to enable them to sell the product. This includes printed and electronic promotional material, product training, reference materials, and relevant technical papers.
  • Review product data to ensure that the field force is kept up to date on new developments regarding the company’s or competitors’ products.
  • Work with marketing communications on web content and execution of product communication plans and promotional campaigns to generate product awareness and demand.
  • Prepare product training materials for internal and external product training seminars, conference, trade shows, articles, discussion groups, and online forums.
  • Conduct product training and deliver product/application related presentations.

Product Support

  • Act as a key resource for the rest of the organization when deep product knowledge is required.
  • Develop expert level DriCalc skills for assigned product lines with regard to sizing, selection, best-practices, and price/hover-help/descriptive text/visual-aid management.
  • Collect and document product-related feedback and inquiries from users and ensure the information is integrated into ongoing product planning and development efforts.
  • Work with tech support to help resolve escalated field cases.
  • Support continual compliance with ISO 9001 standards and procedures.
  • Perform related work as apparent or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Desire & ability to deeply understand DriSteem products, and HVAC systems they operate within.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant product marketing/management experience, preferably in the industrial, commercial or institutional HVAC field.
  • Strong business, strategic thinking, & planning skills
  • Self-motivated with positive attitude, proven leadership and teamwork skills to work cross-functionally to achieve targeted business results
  • Sufficient technical aptitude to deal effectively with basic product operation principles.
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong organizational and creative problem solving skills.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
